From photo shoot to print

One of my friends suggested that I provide more advise on how I create my work.  Sooo …

Today’s photos include some photos I took a few months ago.  The first photo shows my location.  I really liked the berries on the trees. The next photo highlights the berries in front on the window and I like how the tree reflects in the window.  Next is a photo of just the berries. On the last photo, I cropped the last photo  by selecting area that I liked, which provided med with something that is close to a future print.

Enjoy

Do what brings you joy

The other day I asked a series of questions  and one stuck with me. It was, “If you could do anything, be anyone would you be doing, living like you are living now?”  My answer to that question would be Yes, I know I am blessed and a rare breed because I love what I am doing and  how I am living.  I have always wanted to earn a living being creative and I have wanted to own my own business for a long time.

Yesterday, two events happened that helped me clarify my response.  The first incident occured while I was babysitting my granddaughter in the morning. Babysitting is great in itself, but the icing on the cake was when I let her take pictures with my camera (first two photos below). We had a blast.

Next, I drove to Milton, WI to visit my girlfriend before she goes off to Alaska for the summer.   Wendy has been my role model and one of the reasons I thought I could make a go of it on this path less traveled.  It have been five years since she last worked for someone else.  It was the middle of the afternoon and we were sitting in this quaint restaurant eating lunch, having tea and talking about many things, but what I will remember the most was our conversation on how great it was to follow our dreams for a living and I how we would not want it any other way.

Are there are things I could improve ? Sure such as working smarter instead of working harder and/or adding more balance to my life overall. But I would not change what I do or who I do it for.

I have often heard it said that when you get old that your only regrets are the things you did not do.  I hope my thoughts have encouraged you to think about what you are doing and to do whatever brings you joy.

I feel a change coming

I have heard it said that when life presents you with difficulties instead of looking at them as problems we should look at them as “opportunities”.  So this year I have had the opportunity to test out different ways of earning a living.

Here is the number one thing I have learned, I love working for myself and I hope that I never have to work a traditional job again (At least not for more than 2 or 3 months).  I have also learned that I love being an artist,  a blogger and a few other areas that need a little more clarity.  I understand to be successful at these things I need a “niche” and luckily I have determined what that will be.

I have developed a plan (ok, more like an outline) for what I want to do and how I want to live.  For example, I have held some beliefs internally that I now would like, maybe even need to live out loud.  I need time to do a little more research, write my plan on something other than in my date book, blah, blah, blah.  Meaning I will only be blogging on occasion from December 18th 2010 and beginning anew on  January 17th, 2011.

It will be worth the wait.

Workday 12

Today is day 12 of my challenge to create some type of art everyday for 14 days.

Today’s pictures include photographs I have taken of statues from my living environment.  Digitally enhanced of course.

The third a picture I took in Door County that I considering for a print.  What do you think (leave me a comment).

Yes I am having a problem getting my pictures to display as I would like.  Next weeks site changes should fix this.

Have a good one,

Donna

Workday 14 Finale

Today is day 14 of my challenge to create some type of art everyday for 14 days.

I have learned a lot about myself doing art this way.  My sister would says this process has made my art is “more free”.  I did not have time to be as picky and rigid about my art as I ordinarily would be and I am just as happy with the results.

Today, as promised here are three of ten holiday holiday pictures I have created.

Enjoy,

Donna

Workday 13

Today is day 13 of my challenge to create some type of art everyday for 14 days.

I re-did  the picture with rocks I did on Workday 4 and came up with two pictures from the same rocks.  The big picture is an idea for a new print and/or post card.  I have not thought of a saying yet.  LEAVE ME A COMMENT and let me know what you think.

Come back tomorrow for holiday pictures.

Enjoy,

Donna
