An evening with Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs

Tuesday evening I went to a Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs Southcentral Chapter, Inc. monthly dinner meeting. The event included networking, dinner, and a panel discussion.

As a new entrepreneur this was one of the most interesting, knowledge gaining, empowering evenings I have experienced.  I had attended another event recently so I was becoming familiar and comfortable with talking one-on-one about who I am and what it is that I do.  After the great dinner each of us had to stand and in approximately 30 seconds introduce ourselves and what we do.  I really enjoyed seeing and hearing so many women from a wide variety of business areas, stand up and proudly state what they did. I felt honored and proud to be even a small part of such a group.  Next, each table talked and prepared a question for the panel to answer.  I learned that many of the women had the same questions and concerns that I do.  How to market your business? What makes you unique? Should I offer discounts? and so on.

My wish for all new business owners is that they are all able to attend  a similar event & learn so much in such a short period of time.

Thank you Sally

And of course the following are some pictures from the event.  The photo at the top of the post is of Patti Seger receiving $1000.00 for the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence from Mary Kay of WWE.  The next set of  photos are of some entrepreneurs and Girls Biz who were there selling their wares, and the last photo is of two of the panelists (Nancy Resnick of Brand Insights and Jacqui Sakowski of Sakowski Consulting LLC)

Madison’s Women’s Expo or treat-or-treat for women

Wow, Thanksgiving is almost here and I have so much to do this week, therefore you (my readers) will have a lot more pictures than text this week.  I have created a really special art piece to be used for Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Today photos are from the Madison’s Women’s Expo.  I love this event you eat, drink, see famous people (Molly Ringwald), local celbrities (the channel 7 weather man, nice guy) and get lots of free goodies.

The first is a picture of the Girl’s Biz both I featured last Friday.  Next is the cardholder I purchased from these young ladies. Boy these girls are sharp.  After that is something you won’t see to often a picture of me, with Dizzy, one of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. He is/was hot.

Ain’t no biz like GIRLS BIZ

Madison’s GIRLS’BIZ provides girls in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades the opportunity to develop and run their own business. The girls learn about business, meet women business owners, develop a product line, work with a designer on their logo and company name, and present their products to the National Association of Women Business Owners – Greater Madison Chapter (NAWBO-Madison). Next they market and sell their product and keep track of the expenses (and Profits!).  GIRLS’ BIZ includes team-building activities, an overnight trip, and product sales at the Madison’s Women’s Expo and other venues.

I caught up with the girls last Tuesday at the Tempo Holiday Bazaar where they were selling their products for they year including: holiday ornaments & Ambrosia chocolate, Global Mamas handmade bags, and 3 types of organic Potter’s Crackers.

You can find them this weekend at Madison’s Woman’s Expo.   You go girls
