Charlotte Locations

Ok this is a case of better late than never.  The following are few of my favorite Charlotte locations. Enjoy

Red at 28th bills it self as a “multicultural literary lounge.”   Red features new and used books, an outdoor patio, a wine/beer bar, coffee/tea, bubble tea, pastries, events, a pool table, a hookah lounge in a separate room and free Wi-Fi.

The  Collard Green Museum is a place where you can celebrate and connect with African-American locations. The museum is comprised of a collection of installations, exhibits and artifacts of fine art and cultural history. Run by one of the most fascinating, multi-diemensiional men I have ever met,  T’Afo Feimster.  Click to find out why “collard greens”.

Is it about the journey or lost in Cleveland

I am home and boy do I have “vacation head”.  You know your body is home but your head and your heart are still on vacation.  Driving around Madison does not look familiar and I keep having to tell myself that I live here.  However it was great to sleep in my own bed again. I did not realize how much I missed it until I got home.

Do you realize that most of our time is spent on the process, or being on the path to, or striving to achieve a goal, rather than the amount of time spent on a peak moments of actualization.  So I am trying to enjoy process more than the end result.  Enjoying the process was even one of the goals of this trip.

Ok, I bet you see where this is going.  You ask for something and life will provide you with tests to see if you really mean it. So during my drive to and from Charlotte I encountered many of my personal obstacles, such as my fear of heights (I learned you can not break down when the bridge is just a few blocks ahead and you can not turn around), I can’t see in the dark well (ok I promise I will get new glasses), construction –all the way through Illinois except miraculously not at the toll booths, rain for three states (need I say more), traffic jams (I have little patience for this) and getting lost (yep I missed a turn in Akron and ended up in Cleveland).  I conquered each obstacle with self encouragement, by not letting my fears conquer me and lots of prayer. Driving to and from Charlotte has opened my eyes to some of my personal strengths and provided me with keys that can be used in other areas of my life.

More next week.  Todays photos are from my trip.  Enjoy the 4th and I will see you Tuesday.

A few times when driving through the mountains I would look over the edge into a valley and I would be filled with fear of the heights and awed by the beauty.

Vacation Post 2 or Charlotte is bringing it

Part of the title in my last post was “Charlotte Are You Ready for Me”.  Let me just say Charlotte is bringing it.  I have only been here 9 days and I have had ear acupuncture, been a vendor in an art fair, found a place to hang my prints, attended three spiritual classes, I have two business meetings set-up, a couple of other leads, met so many great people, enjoyed my family, eaten way to much food and had a couple of surprises.  I am loving it.

More details will follow about people, places and things when I get home.  Today’s photos are just a few photo highlights.  Enjoy

Vacation Post 1 or Charlotte are you ready for me

I started my journey by spending a couple of days with a cousin I had not seen in years.  It was good to see her family, catch up and compare old family stories.  We came up with some interesting facts and events.  Family history can be like putting a puzzle together.  I also see why people loose so much of their family history

Charlotte, I have arrived and I am really enjoying myself.  The weather is great, the people are friendly and the food is delicious.  I have found a couple of places to walk, one is even around a lovely little lake with swans.  Part of the reason I am here is to nurture my spiritual side so we have visited a “new age” center and a couple of stores.  I actually had the opportunity to watch my sister work.  She is an Intuitive Counselor and watching her and the process was fascinating.

My sister Kim is celebrating her birthday today.  Last night my two sisters, niece, great-niece and I was spent in a little kitchen prepping food for today.  We sang, laughed at each other, prepared and ate food.  Food and family what a comforting feeling this gave me.

Monday night I tried ear acupuncture.  It is similar to body acupuncture but with ear acupuncture stimulation is only to the external ear. It is a method of treating a variety of physiological and psychological health problems by the stimulation of certain acupuncture points on the external ear.  I had five needles in each ear, stimulating my liver, kidney, lungs, and I don’t remember the other two areas.

Did it hurt?  The needle for the kidney hurt in one ear and popped off on the other ear.  Apparently I need work in this area

Did it work? I learned that I am in a good space, right now and not really overly worried or stressed about anything.  What a blessing.  I do not feel any different.  I feel great, but is this just due to where I am or because it worked.  I am not sure

Would I do it again? Yes.  I have seen remarkable results with other people and there were two other people having there ears done when I was.

I am getting use to a different camera on this trip.  What do you think?

Enjoy,
