Features modern locations with a Doon flavor

Manna Cafe’s March feature artist is

Manna Cafe has great food, a very comfortable & charming atmosphere and different artwork every month and the March feature artist is me.  Today, I will be hanging a number of my artworks at Manna’s.  I am excited about the opportunity to have so many of my pieces (20) all in one place, at one time.

My friend Wendy always asks me to share how these opportunities come about.  Manna’s is one of the first places I dropped off a Doon Art media kit. I dropped off the kit and asked to see the owner who was not there, but she called a few days later expressing interest.  So you never know until you try……… and yes my works here are for sale.

Enjoy

I will not try to post all 20 photos at one time, but I will share a number of photos each week through out March.  Today’s photos show my photos all framed ready to be packed.

If you see anything you like & can not make it to Manna’s, just check out my Etsy site .

Location: Indus Beads

Indus Beads located on East Washington has a wide selection of the most gorgeous ethnic beads.  Sarah, the store’s owner was a former neighbor of mine and I remember hearing her speak enthusiastically and hopefully about opening this store.  You know I love a story were someone follows their dream.

I love the textures, colors and the feel of stones and beads.  … and did I mention the prices seemed to be quit reasonable.  I loved so many items here  that if I am considering taking one of the jewelry making classes that will be offered soon.

Charlotte Locations

Ok this is a case of better late than never.  The following are few of my favorite Charlotte locations. Enjoy

Red at 28th bills it self as a “multicultural literary lounge.”   Red features new and used books, an outdoor patio, a wine/beer bar, coffee/tea, bubble tea, pastries, events, a pool table, a hookah lounge in a separate room and free Wi-Fi.

The  Collard Green Museum is a place where you can celebrate and connect with African-American locations. The museum is comprised of a collection of installations, exhibits and artifacts of fine art and cultural history. Run by one of the most fascinating, multi-diemensiional men I have ever met,  T’Afo Feimster.  Click to find out why “collard greens”.

100 years for Mt Zion

My church Mt Zion Baptist Church is continuing its celebration of its 100th Anniversary this weekend with a Gala at the Masonic Center in Madison.

Our church believes in member participation and I have become one of the church photographers and I have also created a Keynote presentation (automated slide show) to be shown during the evening of the Gala.  The first of today’s photos are from last Sunday’s service and the rest are a peek at Saturday’s presentation.  Enjoy

There are two posts today. Keep scrolling down.

Location: Madison Zoo

LIONS, TIGERS, & BEARS, oh my.  I have been so busy that I felt I had been neglecting my family.  We had not been spending much time together even though we live in the same house, so when the opportunity came up to spend a day at the zoo on Sunday ….
